When you order Mirror Reverse, which is available for most of our plans, all
of the drawings that you receive will be what is known as "right reading";
not just one set of blueprints. Unlike some house plan companies, we do not
just flip over the drawings and make blueprints with the numbers and letters
reading backwards. We go into the computer file of each drawing of the house
plan and reverse the sheets that need reversing which is most of them. Then
we check each drawing for accuracy since sometimes, during reversing, text and
numbers may overlap.
Reversing mirrors a plan along the north-south axis of the house. In rectangular
plans designed with one long wall to face south, the south and north sides still
face the same direction, but the east and west are reversed. In angled plans
designed to sit at a 45 degree angle to south and with two south facing sides
- southeast and southwest - the mirror line is from the northern-most corner
to the southern-most corner which is a diagonal line across the house. What
was the northwest wall would then become the northeast wall, and what was the
southwest wall would then become the southeast wall, and vice versa.
Mirror Reverse Drawings are available for blueprints,
erasable vellums, and CAD
files, but not with Study Plans and Construction Review Sets. With CAD files,
it is possible to have the same design professional that would be making changes
for you, also reverse the house as one of the many changes they may be making
for you.
(There is no mirror reverse available for the Southern Cypress plans since
it was drawn by hand. If hand drawn plans are reversed, the writing would be
backwards and we choose not to sell plans like that due to possible error in
reading them.)
