House Size Guidelines

To stay within the recommended guidelines for sustainable homes, we prefer to design homes that do not exceed the following maximum square footage for the first and second floor combined (daylight basements are excluded. (These are higher than the LEED for Homes program for "0" additional points.)

1 bedroom	1700 s.f.
2 bedrooms	2000 s.f.
3 bedrooms	2300 s.f.
4 bedrooms	2600 s.f.
5 bedrooms	2850 s.f.
6 bedrooms	3100 s.f.

If you are interested in a slightly larger home, and since most green building programs have trade offs to offset higher square footages per bedroom, please do not hesitate to contact us for the possibility of working with you. This article is a good summary of why a large house usually cannot be green.
